FitBit Episode 3: Working out at work

“I’m too busy.” “I don’t have a gym membership.” “It’s 24-7, taking care of my kids.” “I’m working full-time.”

Do any of these excuses sound familiar to you? You’re not alone. Life’s a juggling act for many of us, especially when we’re working full-time, but that doesn’t mean that your fitness has to fall by the wayside.

Our FitBit host, Tommy Tran, shows us some easy tips for getting fit while at work. Take a look in the video below:

Tommy says that not only does exercise at work help you get in shape, but it reduces stress as well. Exercise, like yoga, works to detoxify your cells, and will leave you feeling more refreshed and productive.

Handy fitness equipment to keep in your cube:

  • Medicine ball
  • Hand weights
  • Yoga mat

Sitting on a medicine ball at work strengthens your core muscles.

Try to fit in some cardio. Bring your walking shoes, grab a friend or two, and try to get in 30 minutes of cardio each day. Take a walk around your building or walk through the office. And, if doing a ½ all at once doesn’t work with your schedule, you can break it us into three ten-minute increments a day, and still benefit.

Making small changes, like parking further from your building, or taking the stairs can also add in some activity to your workday.

And, try moving beyond the office, and try signing up for a fitness class like Zumba or Hip-Hop dance. It’s about an hour of your time, and you might even meet some like-minded new friends who will help to inspire you to reach your fitness goals.
