Farm Family Safety Days in July

LANCASTER, PA- Safe Kids Lancaster County will host two free Farm and Family Safety Days on Saturday, July 13 and Saturday, July 20. Penryn Fire Company, 1441 N. Penryn Road, Manheim will host the July 13 event and the Rawlinsville Volunteer Fire Company, 33 Martic Heights Drive, Holtwood will host the July 20 event. Both events run from 8 a.m.-2 p.m.

The purpose of the Safety Days is to teach practical safety measures that families can apply on the farm and at home. The interactive day puts attendees into groups that rotate through educational stations focusing on topics like hidden farm hazards, power equipment and chemical safety, wheeled safety, dangers associated with large animals and other safety topics.

Additionally, Worker Protection Training, a course aimed to reduce the risk of pesticide poisonings and injuring among agricultural workers, is being offered for children and adults seeking certification.

The Safe Kids Lancaster County Coalition is dedicated to preventing accidental childhood injury and death for children under age 14 through education, collaboration and advocacy. The coalition is made up of volunteers and representatives from community organizations, and Lancaster General Health is the lead agency for Safe Kids Lancaster County.
