(Lancaster) — A central Pennsylvania man who is HIV-positive and whose former doctors “dismissed” him over blood in a bathroom is suing them for discrimination.

In a civil suit filed in U.S. District Court in Philadelphia, the Lancaster County man, his wife and their daughter say his HIV status is a disability and that the doctors violated the Americans with Disabilities Act when they dropped him as a patient in October 2013.

The patient contends he was wrongly accused of leaving blood in a bathroom after having blood drawn.

The defendants’ lawyer says he was the first patient of the day, arrivingbefore any medical professionals, and it was “blatantly obvious” that it washis blood. The defendants say it posed a health risk to others in the office.
