Women pay less under health law
Under the Affordable Care Act, women will pay less.
Women- Did you know you can be charged more for health insurance simply because of your gender? It’s true!
For example a 22-year-old woman can be charged 150% the premium that a 22-year-old man is charged!
And, a woman can be denied coverage or charged higher premiums because of a pre-existing condition like pregnancy!
Yes, women do have unique health needs, but should they be charged more because of it? According to the Affordable Care Act, they shouldn’t. Take a look:
Starting in 2014, the Affordable Care Act will prevent insurers from charging women higher premiums than they charge men.
And, when the new law is fully-implemented, insurance companies will no longer be able to deny coverage to a woman because of a pre-existing condition like pregnancy.
