Battling a severe form of brain cancer, Ernesto Tamayo is unable to perform or teach. Nor was he able this past March to take part in the annual Lancaster International Guitar Festival which he founded five years ago.

A gathering of his former guitar students, his friends and supporters came together instead to create a special benefit concert to honor Ernesto and raise funds for his expenses and medical bills. Paul Morton and Matt Bacon are former students who perform in the concert, along with guitarists David Cullen, Allen Krantz, Ana Vidovic and Mark Edwards, who won the Festival competition last year.

For the finale, an orchestra of guitars made up of supporters and friends of Ernesto takes the stage under the direction of Marcia Englar to perform.

Director of the Ware Center, Harvey Owen joins Cary Burkett as a guest host on the witf Center Stage broadcast of the concert, and listeners will be encouraged to make a contribution to the fund to support Ernesto. The conert airs Sunday evening , June 16 at 8.

Contributions can be made by making out a check to Ernesto Tamayo, and mailing it:
