What questions do you have about the Affordable Care Act?

How much it will cost me as an employee? How will it change health insurance coverage (new mandates)? What are the major changes to healthcare and when will they be enacted?
-Christopher; Jonestown, PA

How can we get rid of it? Does anyone really know all the things that are involved in this act, especially the things that have no relation to health care, like the property sales tax?
-Dee;Herndon, PA

How does the law impact retirement planning for young people? Before the act I remember being advised as a person in my 20s that I should save 300K for retiree health insurance premiums, to cover time between retirement and Medicare, if a gap exists.
-Crystal;Carlisle, PA

What provisions are available between divorced and/or separated people?
-Mary;Lancaster, PA

What does it do to educate the public about end-of-life issues? What does it do to encourage home care for the sick, which is more humane, more effective, and more economical?
-William;Camp Hill, PA

Why do conservatives oppose it, and which parts are most egregious to them? What do they propose as an alternative? NPR coverage so far has not probed into this very deeply; we mostly get talking points sound bites.
-JD;Harrisburg, PA

If expansion of access is actually the forefront of this bill, what is the opposition to it? If its merely cost it seems bipartisan support could figure out a settlement/compromise. But mostly opposition seems to be specificly political in nature.

None. I think it is unconstitutional for several reasons. Congress has not been given the power to provide it, and the compulsory charge has nothing to do with freedom. PPACA should be repealed. Medical care should be between doctor and patient, with no third party intervention, and subject only to the demands of a free market.

I also wish people wouldn’t call what we have now “insurance.” Insurance is protection against unforeseen or accidental situations. Your car insurance doesn’t cover oil changes. Health *insurance* shouldn’t cover routine office visits. What we have are health care plans.
-Bob;Ephrata, PA

No questions, I am just terrified that the Republicans will some how stop it or alter it.
-Cynthia;McAlisterville, PA

Since it appears that Pennsylvania will not be establishing its own health insurance exchange when and how will the federal government create the exchange?

Will the Affordable Care Act provide incentives for Americans to improve lifestyle options such as diet, exercise, alcohol and drug use to reduce the incidence of chronic and preventable diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, etc. that could help save billions in health care costs and improve the quality of life?
-Jim;Harrisburg, PA

Why GOP opposes it so much??
-Patrick;Landisville, PA

Are they going to post the specifics of the Law so that everyone can read it?
-Robert;Harrisburg, PA

I have health insurance right now through my employer. Does the ACA affect me in any way?
Wendelyn; Philadelphia, PA

We thank all of the above community members for asking great questions about the ACA! We are excited to share these with our expert panel this fall and start a meaningful discussion that will educate and benefit our community.
