Jean’s story: Alive and cancer free
Jean says that she had always lived a fearless life- until a routine mammogram came back with results that changed her life forever.
She had an intuitive sense that something was not right, and on Jan 7th- she got the news.
“There’s nothing that comes close to hearing that you have cancer,” she reads from a journal entry written that day. She describes the range of emotions that the felt and the feeling that time moved forward, but she felt like she was trapped in a vacuum.
But, it was the support of people in her life that lifted out of that fear. “I have my family, my friends, the love and prayers of many- and I have my faith. So, let the healing begin. I am not afraid.”

Jean was impressed with her surgeon, Dr. Torp’s professionalism and knowledge. “But, what set her apart was her compassion,” Jean says. “She embraced me and assured me, she could fix this.”
She admires Dr. Torp for being able to tell people that they have cancer, day after day, and also give them hope. “She made the difference in my journey.”
