HealthSmart: Chronically Ill

The number of people living with chronic disease is growing. An estimated 133 million Americans, nearly half the population, suffer from at least one chronic disease. That’s 15 million more than just a decade ago, and the number is only expected to grow.

Chronic diseases are now considered the leading health concern of the nation.

On HealthSmart: Chronically Ill we’ll introduce you to people who are living with chronic disease and doctors who are treating them. Learn about managing these conditions, the price tag associated with chronic illness and get tips on prevention.

Keira McGuire is a health reporter and multimedia producer for WITF. She hosts and produces Transforming Health television programs as well as other shows and documentaries for WITF’s Original Productions. McGuire produced the Emmy Award winning series HealthSmart for the last ten years. Keira previously worked at WBFF in Baltimore and WMDT in Salisbury as a reporter and anchor. She’s a graduate of Towson University.
