(Harrisburg) — Eleven senior care facilities have been added to a July lawsuit against a series of Pennsylvania nursing homes, according to a news release from the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office.

The original suit, which was filed against Golden Gate National Senior Care in July, included a Gettysburg-area facility.

Attorney General Kathleen Kane filed the amendment Tuesday, bringing the number of Golden LivingCenter locations named in the suit up to 25, the release states.

The centers allegedly misled consumers by failing to provide basic services to elderly and vulnerable residents, according to a July 1 release from the attorney general.

The amendment doesn’t include any facilities in the Hanover-Adams area, however, a Gettysburg center was named along with 13 others in the legal action that was filed in July.

The lawsuit alleges that the Gettysburg location had low staffing and care that included improper eating, bathroom and exercise routines, according to legal documents.

Golden Living’s president and CEO plans to fight the suit filed against his company.

“We plan to vigorously defend the reputation of Golden Living and its employees,” said Dr. Neil Kurtz in a July news release. “Golden Living is confident that claims made by the Attorney General are baseless and wholly without merit.”

The Pennsylvania Department of Health created a nursing home task force in August in response to the lawsuit’s allegations. Members of the task force include Pennsylvania State Senator Pat Vance and Pennsylvania State Representative Matt Baker, according to a release.

Golden Gate National Senior Care manages 36 facilities across the state, the release states.
