Meet the founder of Stamp Out Cancer

Jason Greenspan is a member of the millennial generation. In other words, he was born after 1980. Members of this generation are often accused of thinking that they’re invincible. Jason admits, he didn’t think about his health much until about three years ago.

“It was something I took for granted.”

When Jason was 18 his life changed.

“It was right before my senior prom and graduation…I was sitting on the couch and I had a simple itch. That itch ended up being the most important of my life…I felt something hard and had a gut feeling that something wasn’t right.”

With the help of his mom, Jason made a doctor’s appointment.

“We went in a realized that it was cancer.”

Jason underwent surgery to remove his testicle.

“A couple months later, after a few more scans, it hadn’t all gone away. I had to do nine weeks of chemotherapy to fix it.”

A few days before Thanksgiving, Jason received the news that he was cancer-free.

“I was very thankful that thanksgiving to say the least.”

Today Jason has a message to spread to his fellow millennials.

“If you’re in the age range between 15 and 35, do a monthly testicular exam…Be aware of your body. Nobody is exactly the same, but you know your body and you’ll know if something is wrong.”

Jason has a website, which he hopes will connect others facing a similar battle. He is also raising money to stamp out cancer.

“I created my website…I sell my squish pennies, key rings and wristbands and all of net proceeds go to the Livestrong Foundation…It’s a way to give back to everyone who helped me.”
