Join readers across Central Pennsylvania for an Evening with Janice Kaplan, who documented her year-long experiment with gratitude in “The Gratitude Diaries: How a Year of Looking on the Bright Side can Transform Your Life.”

“[G]ratitude is very much the basis for so many of the things that make us happy. We can’t change the events in our lives. We can’t change all of the events that are happening around us,” Kaplan told Transforming Health reporter Ben Allen. “But we can change our own attitude towards them and our own perspective on them, and realizing that and realizing that you have that control over your life is probably a great first step to making yourself happier and changing so many of those other things that you might want to.”

Kaplan’s work examines how gratitude can improve marriage, work, health, and even help people continue living after tragic life events.
The author of 12 books, Kaplan has been a magazine editor, television producer, writer, and journalist.

This event is free and open to the public but RSVP is required. This event will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Strand-Capitol Theatre in York. Doors open at 6:00 p.m.

This “Summer Read: Beyond the Pages” event is a collaboration of WITF’s Transforming Health, Aligning Forces for Quality – South Central PA, Capital Blue Cross, and Pennsylvania Libraries.
