Avoid the “summer slide” by visiting parks and your local library.

Who can participate?

Kids in the midstate.

What is the activity?

Visit midstate parks and trails, find a post with an attached etching plate, and complete an etching with a crayon or a pencil. Take 3 to a participating library and get a prize!

When should I start looking?

Now! The project runs through August 12, 2017.

Where are the posts hidden?

Wooden posts with attached etchings are located in parks and along trails in Adams, Lancaster, Lebanon and York counties.

How do I find more information about my library’s GO program?

Contact each library system to learn more about the GO program.

GO Ephrata (Lancaster County)

Why participate?

“There is this wonderful learning synergy that happens somewhere between reading about nature and the discovery of wildlife along a trail,” said Deb Sullivan, community relations director, York County Libraries. “By participating in the program, kids stay school-ready by keeping their minds and bodies fit over the summer months. And we hear that the parents love the program, too, because of the opportunities to create treasured summer memories with their children.”

How is this program funded?

The GO! program in all four counties is funded through WellSpan Health’s Community Partnership Grant Program. These grants are awarded to nonprofit organizations that improve the health of the communities and people WellSpan serves. For more information on WellSpan’s Community Partnership Grants, visit www.WellSpan.org or contact  Kevin Alvarnaz, director of Community Health and Wellness at WellSpan Health at kalvarnaz2@wellspan.org
