CURE Champion winner

Lemoyne, Pa. – CURE International announced that Michael May of Cynthiana, Kentucky has been named the winner of the inaugural CURE Champion Team. Michael set a goal of $1,000, and with the help of the CURE celebrity fitness trainers, he not only met his goal, but, along with his team, raised more than $12,000, which funded the life-changing surgeries of eleven children in CURE hospitals in the developing world.

Michael May is himself a hydrocephalus survivor who has endured over 10 surgeries to treat his condition. “Michael really embodies the spirit of the whole Champion program, and we are proud to name him the winner of our very first Champion team,” said Joel Worrall, CTO for CURE International. “He’s overcome hydrocephalus and used that as a platform to help others with the same condition.” Worrall adds:

“He’s really making an impact with his life, and that’s what CURE Champion is all about.”

As the winner of the first CURE Champion team, Michael will travel to the Dominican Republic in November with CURE Celebrity Coach John Carter to visit a CURE hospital and meet some of the children who have received needed surgeries there.

The second CURE Champion team kicked off on September 9, 2013 and will run through December 10, 2013. CURE Champion is designed to help individuals attain their fitness goals while simultaneously raising money for life-saving and life-changing surgical needs of disabled children in developing countries.

Team members are connected with children who require treatment through CURE and given a customizable webpage to promote and manage their campaign. When the fundraising goal has been achieved, a team member and coach will be randomly selected for a goodwill trip to a CURE Hospital to meet with patients and their families. CURE hospitals are located in Afghanistan, Dominican Republic, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Niger, Uganda, United Arab Emirates, and Zambia. The Tebow CURE Hospital is also currently under construction in the Philippines.

Three highly respected fitness coaches have signed on to assist the Champion Team 2 members meet fitness goals. Coaches will provide inspiration, and motivation, as well as training tips to assist team members in their quest to meet their fitness goals. Coaches for the second CURE Champion team are:
